Barbours Pond is set within the beautiful 568-acre woodland oasis of Garret Mountain Reservation in Passaic County NJ.  The pastoral landscape of Garret Mountain has been a place of refuge from the surrounding urban environment for the communities of Passaic County. 

Working closely with the design team architect Joe Hyland, ETM assessed the viability and soundness of these existing structures and developed a sensitive plan for the renovation that would preserve their original characters while making the facilities more useful, as well as updating the structures to meet current building codes.

In addition to these architectural challenges, the project also required ETM to focus on the landscape in order to develop new program opportunities and expand usage, particularly for more programmed events.  The design includes paths connecting the newly-renovated structures to guide visitors around the perimeter of a new great lawn area that will be used for outdoor events, school activities and passive park use.
